TUKWILA, Wash. — The victim of Friday’s shooting at the Tukwila Costco has been identified as a 67-year-old woman.
According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, Yuam Ming died from a gunshot wound to the chest and her manner of death is homicide.
Tukwila police said Friday that the suspect who shot Ming fled the area in a white SUV, but investigators have not said anything publicly since.
Police did not respond to questions from KOMO News on Monday, including whether investigators believe Ming was targeted or possibly the victim of a robbery; whether the vehicle used was stolen in a carjacking in Seattle, and whether police have photos or videos of the suspect.
On Tuesday, Tukwila police asked the public for any camera or in-car footage from around the time of the incident.
Operations have resumed to normal at Costco, but shoppers were still disturbed by the shooting.
“A poor woman lost her life here,” said shopper TJ Hermes. “This is the Costco I always go to, so when I pulled in today, I thought ‘does everybody have this sense of impending danger?”
This is the second homicide in Tukwila so far this year.
Earlier this month, Tukwila investigators waited four days to inform the public that a cab driver had been found stabbed to death in the parking lot of the Southcenter Mall. That cab driver, Nicholas Hokema, started his shift in Olympia and his cab was taken after his body was left in the parking lot.
