MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Celebrating hip hop and Memphis.
The very first People’s Hip Hop Awards Experience wrapped up Sunday night in the heart of the Bluff City. The show featured several star-studded names and performances and was co-hosted by actor Omar Gooding.
Some of the talent that rolled through the red carpet included Big Boogie, La Chat and Crime Mob. They all said that no one does hip hop like Memphis, and they showcased that talent inside the Cannon Center for The Performing Arts in Downtown Memphis.
“It feels like I got signed all over again,” Big Boogie told FOX13. “It’s the love, it’s the genuine love, it’s the support, it’s the understanding, it’s the happiness. I love it!”
It was like a homecoming for people to come back to their roots to celebrate the rich culture of hip hop in Memphis.
“Man, we our own people,” La Chat said. “Nobody can beat on Memphis. That’s what makes us stand out.”
