Local Organizations

[city_organization_16]

WE WIN - WE WIN Institute, Inc. is a non-profit organization who's mission is the academic and social success of all children. The focus is at-risk youth who are from economically poor neighborhoods that are underachieving in school and face negative influences in their communities. These programs provide educational and cultural experiences designed to influence our children's basic value system and attitude. We give them a base of knowledge in core subjects, and help them develop skills they need to grow into successful, responsible adults.

Youthrive - The purpose of youthrive is to inspire and engage youth and adults through education, leadership and service to integrate peace making activities into their lives, their communities and the world.

15 Now Minnesota - 15 Now Minnesota is a grassroots organization fighting together with low-wage workers, the labor movement, and supporters for a $15/hour minimum wage. We are the local chapter of 15 Now, an organization that launched in 2014 and led the victory for a $15 minimum wage in Seattle, the first major city to pass $15/hour.

Navigate MN - NAVIGATE is a leadership development program for immigrant young adults in Minnesota facing financial, social and legal barriers to achieve their dreams through changing unjust systems. Through NAVIGATE, these young adults help their community and themselves by working to access college education, jobs and legal status.

MN 350 - To return our climate to the safe level of 350ppm of CO2 – or lower – in a way that best promotes a just and livable future. MN350 believes this change in our climate will be achieved through a fundamental shift in our society, such that climate justice and sustainability for all living species is the lens by which all behavioral, political, economic, and social decisions are made.

re:power - Re:power is a national training center for people interested in progressive change. We help activists win on issues and elect progressive candidates by training them in the nuts and bolts of grassroots organizing, voter engagement, political advocacy, and leadership development.

The Anti-War Committee - The Anti-War Committee began with 13 people who committed civil disobedience to protest the bombing of Iraq. We organize vigils, rallies, marches, educational forums, street theater, and civil disobedience actions to challenge the injustices of U.S. foreign policy. We believe in peace through justice, and we stand in solidarity with oppressed people here and abroad.

Communities United Against Police Brutality - CUAPB is a Twin-Cities based organization that was created to deal with police brutality on an ongoing basis. We work on the day-to-day abuses as well as taking on the more extreme cases. Our overriding goal is to create a climate of resistance to abuse of authority by police organizations and to empower local people with a structure that can take on police brutality and actually bring it to an end. We provide support for survivors of police brutality and families of victims so they can reclaim their dignity and join the struggle to end police brutality.

Veterans for Peace MN - We, having dutifully served our nation, do hereby affirm our greater responsibility to serve the cause of world peace. To this end we will work, with others: To increase public awareness of the costs of war; To restrain our government from intervening, overtly and covertly, in the internal affairs of other nations; To end the arms race and to reduce and eventually eliminate nuclear weapons; To seek justice for veterans and victims of war; To abolish war as an instrument of national policy.
