North Texas Social Impact Summit brings together area changemakers to addresses challenges facing communities of color

October 11, 2023 (Ft. Worth / Dallas) – Open Channels Group (OCG+), a local social impact communications agency, is hosting a gathering of North Texas leaders working on the front lines of social change. The inaugural North Texas Social Impact Summit takes place on Nov. 3rd, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the United Way of Tarrant County.

The event brings together a diverse group of leaders and thinkers to further the conversation and inspire action to address social issues and challenges facing communities of color. The purpose-driven convening features industry experts, practical knowledge sessions, and meaningful connections that can fuel positive change in North Texas communities.

The North Texas Social Impact Summit featured speakers and panelist include:

Leah King, President and CEO of United Way of Tarrant County
Dr. Angelica Geter, DRPH, MPH, President and CEO of Impactful Collaboration, LLC
Dr. Sylvia Trent-Adams, PhD, RN, FAAN, FNAP, President of the University of North Texas Health Science Center
Charles O’Neal, President of the Texas Association of African American Chambers of Commerce
Kelly Allen Gray, Executive Director of the AIDS Outreach Center
Marcela Nava, Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington
Jeff Postell, President, CEO and Founder of Post L Group

“Open Channels Group is committed to building a network of like-minded leaders who are willing to roll up their sleeves to fight for fair and equitable access to opportunities and resources for people of color,” said Tonya Veasay, President and CEO of OCG+. “We’re honored to host this event at United Way of Tarrant County in this vital undertaking.”

Veasey has significant experience in advancing social and community impact work. She previously served as CEO and President of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) and currently serves on the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Board of Trustees. She has been recognized by the PR News as a Black Pioneer in social impact.

“The North Texas Social Impact Summit serves as a catalyst for conversation, action and change for North Texas and beyond,” said Leah King, President and CEO of the United Way of Tarrant County. “It provides a platform to address systemic issues, promotes collaboration and empowerment, and actively works towards a more equitable future for all members of our community.”
