SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
The Sacramento City Council has appointed Leyne Milstein as the interim city manager.
The move comes weeks after the council decided not to extend former city manager Howard Chan’s contract. The city goes into 2025 with a new mayor and no official city manager at the helm.
Milstein is a familiar face in Sacramento’s city hall. She is currently the assistant city manager of finance, human resources and IT.
Milstein began serving as the city’s finance director in 2008 and has over 20 years of experience in local and state government, according to the city of Sacramento.
Milstein holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from UC Davis and a master’s degree in public administration from CSU Hayward.
Council voted 7 to 1 to appoint Milstein, with Roger Dickinson abstaining and Mai Vang voting no.
Her salary has not yet been determined.
Meanwhile, the council will continue to search for a more permanent city manager.
