Join Us to Celebrate Juneteenth 2025

Every year, June 19th commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. All around the country, community events and cultural celebrations offer the opportunity to recognize the signing of the Juneteenth Independence Day Act - which established every June 19th as a national holiday - to learn about the holiday's history, to celebrate Black-owned businesses and organizations, and to connect.

Being headquartered in North Texas, LoveJustice is fortunate to have a local connection to Dr. Opal Lee, who is considered to be the “Grandmother of Juneteenth.” Determined to see the Juneteenth national holiday as a reflective moment to ask, "Are we free yet?" and to recognize that, "None of us are free if we're not all free," Dr. Opal Lee conducts an annual walk to remind us to check in on the progress that has been made. After having recognized her with the LoveJustice Legends Award at the Social Justice Celebration Event in April at The Star in Frisco, this year, LoveJustice will be joining Dr. Opal Lee for her walk at Farrington Field in Fort Worth, Texas.
