Forest Rescue at North SeatTac Park

September 24, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

“North SeaTac Park is a 200+ acre urban oasis four miles south of Seattle filled with creeks, wetlands, towering trees, and amazing recreational amenities. Tub Lake, thought to be the last true peat bog left in the Seattle area, is also in this park, Join us at this Green SeaTac Partnership event to help free a small forested area of invasive weeds. We’ll focus on continuing to clear an area where volunteers have been working since spring 2021.

By joining in a forest rescue here, you will be helping to bring community focus to an important local park which is zoned Aviation Commercial and part of which is, unfortunately, at near term risk of development by the Port of Seattle for airport expansion. For info on a campaign to help stop tree removal in and near the park see.

Registration is required. Online registration is preferred but paper sign-up will also be available at the event.”

Note from CCA: Trees and forests, particularly when part of an urban canopy in frontline communities are critical in reducing greenhouse gases, mitigating heat islands of global warming, and support ecological health of all, particularly diverse neighborhoods where many trees have been lost to impacts of redlining and development.
